NFC Wristband System

A full, auditable count in minutes — not a recount

Problem
At a live event, knowing what's happening — who registered, what each station handed out, where every wristband is in the journey — usually means paper lists and after-the-fact reconciliation.
What we built
NFC wristbands and a phone-based station app: attendees register at the door, every tap at every station is recorded instantly to an append-only, auditable ledger with operator undo and duplicate protection. Admins watch counts, points and activity live, export to CSV, and run a projected prize draw weighted by participation.
What changed
Inventory and participation tracking became instant — a full, trustworthy count in minutes instead of a manual recount. If it moved through a station, it left a record.

Runs on ordinary Android phones — no dedicated scanners to rent.

What the system does

  • Attendees register at the door — name, contact, waiver, guardian fields for minors — and walk away with a wristband
  • Staff tap wristbands with ordinary Android phones — no dedicated scanners to rent
  • Per-station point menus configured centrally: tournament places, converted penalties, workshops, participation
  • Every award writes to the chip and to an append-only server ledger at the same time
  • Nothing is ever deleted: corrections are recorded as reversals, and every award stores the before and after balance
  • Staff sign in with a PIN and pick their station per shift; every station change is logged
  • The closing station captures social follows and a testimonial, multiplying the attendee's raffle entries
  • A weighted raffle per prize tier with a live draw screen — and previous winners excluded automatically
  • A live admin dashboard: attendees, points, per-station activity, leaderboard
  • One-click CSV export of the whole event
  • An installable phone app that keeps working when venue wi-fi drops
  • A simulation mode runs the whole flow with no wristbands and no phones — rehearse before the doors open

By the numbers

  • A full, auditable count in minutes — not a recount
  • Chip payload ~50 of ~144 usable bytes, with room reserved for a cryptographic signature
  • Raffle weight: 1 base entry plus up to 4 multipliers
  • 5 stations configured out of the box
